Rose Cottage Badachro Christmas

Once you arrive at Rose Cottage, your get-away-from-it-all Christmas can begin. This is an opportunity for an old-fashioned celebration. Far away from the commercialised hype of the festive season – certainly too far away to pop out for any last minute and frantic shopping. Why not order your turkey, goose or festive roast from Kenneth Morrison’s, our local Q Guild family-run butcher? Shops in Gairloch can provide your other groceries and there are several local suppliers of smoked salmon, shellfish and other specialities.

Or if you prefer to sit back while someone else is busy with the turkey, there are several hotels happy to play host on Christmas Day.

You can take the advantage of the deserted beaches to blow away the year’s cobwebs or stretch your legs climbing the local hills. The days are short in December, so curl up in front of the fire to read a book, watch a film, finish the jigsaw or play a game.

Father Christmas pays an annual visit to the Badachro Inn on Christmas Eve, so if there are little ones in your party, be sure to let the Inn know you will be coming along.

If you wish to welcome in Christmas morning at midnight Mass, there are local services in Gairloch and in the beautiful little church, St Maelrubha’s, in Poolewe.

And Hogmanay in Badachro? Celebrate New Year at the renowned Badachro Inn, first foot your neighbours with coal and whisky or find a local ceilidh and put on your dancing shoes. And then head home to bed . . .
